Megaglobe – A New Search Engine

Megaglobe LogoDo we really need a new search engine? Megaglobe look to be revving up their pre launch marketing efforts with press releases and news about their new "Pay Per Valid Click" technology which is patent pending.

If it works, then this is great news for paying advertisers - it might force Google to be more open in their reporting and up their ante in trying to erradicate Click Fraud. But will getting listed in yet another search engine really have that big an effect on your websites traffic?

One website I operate which receives a few thousand unique visitors per day has the following percentage breakdown of visitors over the past week: (From Google Analytics Stats)

Google - 87%
Yahoo - 7%
MSN - 4%
Other - 2%

Perhaps I need to improve my SEO for Yahoo? Nope - I have Number 1 position in Yahoo for all my main keywords. I just don't get the traffic from them.

The same is true in Pay per click experiments I have run on both Yahoo and Australia's Sensis search engine, where I have tried to run campaigns and upped my cost per click and upped my budget - but just can't get the visitors.

So can another search engine really get you the traffic you want. Sure you might get a few clicks here and there, but not massive amounts. Having said all that, I did submit my site to the search engine - takes 2 seconds and you never know, they might just be the next Google...
